What to Expect

What to expect when visiting South Grandville Church…

Parking:

Parking is located on the east side of the building.  There are spots reserved for both handicapped and disabled persons.  There is also a drive-through carport for those rainy and snowy days.  Entrances to the parking lot are located off of 41st Street and Blackhawk Dr. which are on the north and south sides of the building.

Entrance:

The main entrance is also located on the east side of the building.  When entering, the nursury is located downstairs to the left and the sanctuary is upstairs to the right.  For worship services, greeters will welcome you at the front entrance and will be able to direct you or answer any questions.

Worship:

Worship at South Grandville is geared towards all generations with a mix of contemporary songs with drums, guitars, keyboard, and praise bands as well as traditional hymns sung with organ.  The morning service typically runs an hour and fifteen minutes while the evening service runs just under an hour.  During the services, all song lyrics will be on the projection screens at the front of the sanctuary or you may use the books provided if you prefer to see musical notation.  Dress at South Grandville varies greatly among members from suit and tie to shorts and sandals.  What is more important is that you wear something comfortable and come ready to worship God.  The largest portion of the worship service is a message from the preacher.  He will bring a relevant teaching that will help you to shape your life and develop a closer relationship with God.  These are also geared to be multigenerational and applicable to anyone listening.

Children’s Worship:

During the worship service, there will be a time as indicated in the order of worship (handed out at the entrance to the sanctuary) where children who are 2nd grade and younger can leave the sanctuary to go to an age-appropriate worship time downstairs.  At the indicated time, leaders will go to the door located at the front right of the sanctuary to lead the children downstairs.  After the worship service concludes, you may go to the lower level classroom listed on the order of worship to meet up with your child(ren).

After Church:

After the worship service concludes, we encourage you to stick around and get to know some of the members of South Grandville.  We are excited to meet you and hope you will give us the opportunity to introduce ourselves.  There are coffee and refreshments in Friendship Hall (located on the south side of the main level) served after every morning service.

Mid-Week:

South Grandville is a busy place on weekdays as well.  There are many groups that use the building during the week.  Take a look at the events calendar to find an activity that interests you.  Mid-week activities provide an opportunity for members and visitors of the church to get to know each other better and enjoy each other’s company.  From youth activities to basketball nights to senior outings to Wednesday night suppers, you are sure to find something of interest to you.
