Sometimes we’ll say to each other: ‘You never know.’ Whether we’re planning a vacation or applying for a job or hoping to sell the house, ‘You never know.’ We have to be prepared for any number of possible outcomes. Will it go as expected? Maybe. Maybe not.
But to say ‘you never know’ isn’t exactly right. Because, as Paul spells out expectations in the Christian life in 2 Corinthians, there is actually quite a bit we already do know will happen in 2016. During these opening Sundays of a new year, let’s consider what we can expect to happen in these months ahead—all because the Lord will be faithfully present in all these days.

- Sunday, January 3
“God Will Keep Answering Prayers”
2 Corinthians 1:8-11
Here’s something that we can count on ahead of
time throughout 2016. God’s people will keep praying—
and those prayers will make a great difference.
- Sunday, January 10
“The Holy Spirit is the Presence of the Future”
2 Corinthians 1:18-22
The future has already broken into the present. The
fulfillment of God’s eternal promises is already underway.
- Sunday, January 17
“Forgive and You’ll Get a Brother (or a Sister) Back”
2 Corinthians 2:5-11

4. Sunday, January 24
“Changed from Glory Into Glory”
2 Corinthians 3:12-18
Christians are all a work in progress. Sometimes
progress is slow. Sometimes we are slow learners. But just
listen to what God plans to make of us.
- Sunday, January 31
“God Has a Market for Cracked Pots”
2 Corinthians 4:7-18
Jars of clay are rather ordinary. So are we. But that’s
not going to stop the Lord from working in us and through us.
- Sunday, February 7
“Swallowed Up By Life”
2 Corinthians 5:1-10
‘Change and decay in all around I see.’ Ugh! I don’t
like that. Nobody likes that. Surely God has more in mind for us than that. Yes, He does.
